It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the Holst Memorial Lecture 2016 and the preceding Holst Symposium on Thursday 17 November 2016. The recipient of this year’s Holst Memorial Medal is Andrew B. Watson, PhD, currently working as Senior Scientist at Apple. The title of his Lecture is:
The Windows of Visibility
The theme chosen for this year’s preceding Holst Symposium is Quality of Light.
Four eminent speakers, all leading academic and industrial professionals from different disciplines, will each address a specific aspect of light.

• Zary Segall (Endowed Chair Professor at The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden, Scientific Director    of the Dept. of Communication at KTH, Director of the Mobile Media and Services KTHLab, Activity Lead in EIT/ICT Labs          and Adjunct Professor in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at University of Maryland – UMBC.)

Since 1977, the Holst Memorial Lecture is an annual event organized by Philips Lighting Research and Technische Universiteit Eindhoven. The Holst Memorial Lecture is named after Dr. Gilles Holst, founding father of the famous Philips Natuurkundig Laboratorium or Natlab (1914-1946).
ILIAD 2016
Preceding the Holst Symposium, the TU/e Intelligent Lighting Institute (ILI) organizes its annual public outreach event ILIAD. Researchers connected to ILI will present current and upcoming research and innovation projects in Intelligent Lighting and its applications in Health and Well-being, focusing on the strategic partnership between TU/e and Philips Lighting. Poster presentations will be part of ILIAD 2016.
The Holst event and ILIAD 2016 will take place in the ‘Blauwe Zaal’
(Auditorium, TU/e Science Park).
ILIAD outreach event will start at 09.00 hours.
The Symposium will start at 13.00 hrs.
The Holst Memorial Lecture will be introduced at 16.00 hrs.
Participation is free of charge. Registration however is obligatory; the number of seats available is limited.
